Mrs B Breese - Teacher
Mrs J Crow - Teaching Assistant
Mrs C Forman - Teacher (1 afternoon)
In topic we are learning about the Romans, about the expansion of the Roman Empire and their invasion of Britain. We will be learning about Roman society and life in the Roman army. Our literacy topic is Roman myths to link to our work on the Romans.
On Thursday afternoons the children will be taught Science by Mrs Foreman, this term they will be learning about Light and Shadows.
The children will also be receiving a letter from Einstein Bear, our science bear, introducing himself and inviting himself to our homes to tell you all about the science we are learning in school!
P.E. will take place on Wednesday with First Step Sports and on Friday afternoons when I will be teaching them, so please ensure your child has the appropriate kit, that long hair can be tied back and earrings removed or covered with a plaster. PE this term will be outdoors whenever possible so children must have a pair of trainers in their kit.
Reading homework is ongoing on a daily basis. Your child knows which reading group they belong to and the homework tasks are outlined in the recent letter the children took home regarding our new reading system.
The children will also receive a list of spellings to learn at home each Friday, they will be tested on these spellings the following Friday, so again please try to practise these at home with your child on a regular basis.
Your child will bring home a times table sheet (every Friday). The children will be tested on these the following Friday and once they achieve 50 correct answers, they will then progress on to the next sheet (getting progressively more tricky!). This is a timed challenge - 3 minutes and for many it will take time to be able to master this. We urge you to practice with your child at home so that they can make progress.
I do encourage all the children to bring in a bottle of water for drinking during lessons. They can fill this in the classroom and they are stored next to our sink.
The children will be doing Art or Design and Technology every week and it would be of great benefit if your child could bring into school an old, unwanted, large adult’s shirt or tee shirt which they can wear over their school uniform. Hopefully, this will help to keep their school uniforms clean and paint free!
Please ensure that your children have separate indoor and outdoor shoes. It is important that the children do not bring in dirt/mud from the field which can get into the carpet and subsequently onto the children when they are sitting there during part of their lessons.

We use a reward system in school called Class Dojo these are online creatures that your child can personalize, and if your child follows school rules and routines and strives to do their best, they will receive Dojos through the week. Again you will receive an invite and you can log on to ‘Class Dojo’, where you can see one of the ways we give positive feedback.
We are also on Twitter, so watch out for our tweets! You can find us at @mcps_class3. We use twitter and the school website if we need to remind you of events such as home clothes days or if it is bad weather and the school has to shut. It’s worth logging on.
The schools twitter feeds are protected accounts - content is only visible to people with an account approved by the school. Should you wish to follow a school twitter account - please also send an email to the headteacher at firstname.lastname@example.org stating your twitter account name. This will allow us to ensure that only genuine parents/carers and members of the school community are able to access the pages.
